The Florida Bar Makes Another Splash with its Annual Construction Law Institute

By: Jessica A. Valor

The Florida Bar’s Construction Law Institute keeps getting bigger and better every year. The fourth annual conference was again held at the beautiful Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida, from March 31 to April 2, 2011. Interface Consulting’s senior vice president, Philip Barnard, PE, CCE, and I were among the sponsor, exhibitors, and over 350 attendees present.

The annual golf tournament, however, was cancelled due to torrential rain. The conference chair, Wm. Cary Wright, still managed to have a little fun raffling off the tournament prizes during the reception on Thursday night. It was an excellent chance to network with new attendees and find friends of Interface from the 2010 conference – we even enjoyed a live band!

To top it off, the Honorable Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court, Charles T. Canady presented during the luncheon on Friday. It was a wonderful experience to meet such an accomplished figure.

Keep up the excellent program, Florida Bar. We are looking forward to participating next year, rain or shine! For more information on the Construction Law Institute, visit The Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar.
