StatoilHydro VP speaks at Offshore Energy Center Series

by Kim Hester,

My colleague Taylor Buzan and I attended the October 28, 2010 Offshore Energy Center’s Executive Speaker Series featuring Mr. Helge Haldorsen, VP of Strategy and Portfolio at StatoilHydro. The luncheon was held in the Petroleum Club of Houston’s 43rd floor conference room which overlooks downtown Houston. Prior to the presentation, we had an opportunity to network with fellow attendees and catch a great view of downtown.

Mr. Haldorsen’s presentation enlightened the audience on energy conservation and alternatives while providing an entertaining atmosphere.  His speech highlighted Statoil’s current project locations and their expenditures by global region. According to Mr. Haldorsen, Statoil continues to reduce carbon emissions and is active in developing alternative energy capital projects. Major alternative energy projects include offshore deep-water wind turbines and Captured Carbon Storage (CCS) plants, both onshore and offshore as well as sub-sea.
